What’s all the hype with Stranger Things

Netflix has recently become more than just an app that brings all your favorite shows together in one easy accessible platform. With its original series that have started to take off, producing the “must watch” television series such as Orange is The New Black, House of Cards, Narcos, and most recently, Stranger Things.
The Netflix original series, Stranger Things, written and directed by Matt and Ross Duffer has recently been all the hype with good reason. The horror series is based in a small American town where people mysteriously go missing.

It stars Winona Ryder who is iconic to 80s horror films such as Heathers, Edward Scissorhands, and Beetlejuice. Ryder plays Joyce and has attracted an older audience to show while being introduced to younger viewers. Some of the other cast members are Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, and Natalia Dyer as Nancy just to name a few.

The show also seems to have many influences from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. A few references made in the actually production of this film are E.T., Nightmare on Elm Street, and Alien. It being of nostalgic feel to those who wanted those films growing up.

The soundtrack is also heavily based on bands and musicians from the 90s and 80s. Just all around it is a big hit with the “throw back” feel the shows carries in every aspect.
The first season left viewers eagerly waiting for season two, which is rumored to return sometime before July of 2017.
