A sneak peak of the intensities of Candy Crush Level 583.

Maybe you just need a bit of entertaining repetition in your life– cheffing it up in mobile games or steadily eliminating answer choices in Wordle– or you finally have some extra time to relax. Either way, we’ve amassed a collection of games that can hopefully provide some form of entertainment or distraction no matter the occasion.

Candy Crush

Dive into the sweet and colorful world of Candy Crush, where swapping candies has never been more addictive! With its myriad of sub-genres and the iconic “Saga” series leading the charge, Candy Crush offers endless hours of candy-coated fun. Whether you’re matching candies to clear jelly, popping soda bottles, or spreading the jelly to set the Candy Bears free, there’s a level for everyone’s sweet tooth. Just be careful not to get too hooked on those tempting in-app purchases…

Cooking Madness

Get ready to turn up the heat and unleash your inner chef in Cooking Madness! From sizzling stir-fries to decadent desserts, this fast-paced cooking game challenges you to whip up delicious dishes against the clock. With a wide range of cuisines and cooking techniques to master, you’ll find yourself racing to satisfy hungry customers in bustling kitchens around the world. So grab your spatula, sharpen your knives, and prepare for a culinary adventure like no other!

NYT GAMES

With your complimentary New York Times subscription (comes with your LFA gmail), you must at least try out a few of their games. After all, it’s free, daily, and comes in a variety; best of all, you can even find the answers online to maintain that streak. Below are a few highlights.

Wordle

Perhaps the most well-known out of the bunch, Wordle became a fan favorite during COVID, as users eagerly tried to decipher which five-letter word was the answer to the day’s puzzle. With six guesses or less, you must carefully logic your way through elimination to achieve victory. Green means you’ve correctly placed a letter, yellow means wrong order but that the letter does appear, and gray is a sad confirmation that both are incorrect. Each correct guess brings you closer to victory, while each incorrect guess adds to the tension. Can you crack the code and emerge victorious?

Spelling Bee

How many words can you assemble from seven letters? Test your familiarity with the English language or grow more attuned by the day; there’s no consequence for mistakes. However, do be aware that this game has its fair share of frustration– especially when it’s your ninth try with an unsuccessful word.

Connections

Just as the name suggests, the intent of this game is to find the connection that links groups of four words together– the twist: they are randomly assembled on screen (forming a 4×4 square) and the NYT finds joy in making some rather odd categories (that you must somehow come to the conclusion of by yourself). For instance, “Samurai”, “Candles”, “Fantastic”, and “Apollo” share the fact that they are “Movies Minus Numbers.”

The Mini Crossword

Just as there are layers to the NYT subscription, there are layers to the exclusive NYT crossword. Mainly that we as LFA students only have access to the Mini Crossword, a much smaller version of the one we might’ve grown up playing in newspapers. But still, this crossword has no lack of obscure statements that, at least for us, do little to let us know what the correct word is. Whether you’re a casual puzzler or a seasoned wordsmith, the crossword offers hours of brain-teasing fun. With its mix of clues, wordplay, and trivia, each puzzle is a unique challenge waiting to be conquered. So grab a pencil, sharpen your wits, and get ready to fill in those squares!

Cupcake 2048

Step into a world of whimsy and sweetness with Cupcake 2048, a tantalizing twist on the classic 2048 game. Picture a dazzling array of vivid, sparkly cupcakes filling your screen, each more enticing than the last. In this delightful rendition, your task is to combine matching cupcakes to create ever more delectable treats, all while aiming for the ultimate prize: the elusive Peppermint cupcake!

As you embark on your journey, you’ll start with the humble Vanilla Birthday cupcake, adorned with butterscotch frosting and colorful sprinkles. But don’t be fooled by its simplicity, for the path to cupcake perfection is filled with tantalizing challenges and mouth-watering surprises. From Bubblegum Pink to Sunshine Vanilla, Valrhona Blonde Ganache to Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake, each cupcake brings its own unique flavor and flair to the table.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there. With each swipe and merge, you’ll unlock new and exciting cupcakes, each more extravagant than the last. From exotic fruit flavors to indulgent chocolate creations, the possibilities are endless. So indulge your sweet tooth, unleash your inner pastry chef, and embark on a sugary quest like no other in Cupcake 2048!
