Records broken in season’s first track meet

On April 2, the track team had its first meet of the season. The meet took place at LFA, with competing school Francis Parker and Grant High School.

Senior Dejon Brissett broke the school record in the boys’ triple jump event. He bested the previous school record, which was set by himself by four inches with a jump of 46-03. Brissett won the event as well.

“We had many very notable and outstanding performances,” said Head Coach Joe Ward.

The meet marked Junior Theresa Onwuka’s first track competition. Onwuka won three events–the 100 meter dash, long jump, and triple jump.

Senior Nicholas Frystak won all the events he competed in, which included the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter event, and the 4 by 1 relay.

Senior Kyle Shannahan won the 800 meter event.

Senior Julia Yerger won the 400 meter event.

Head Coach Joe Ward created a collection of video footage of the meet’s events. See link below.
