The empty frames are then taken out of the spinning drum and then taken up to an open field to let the bees come and clean out the frames, taking all the excess honey so that none of it is wasted. The field is swarming with activity as thousands of bees are coming to claim the liquid gold. My dad owns approximately around 64,000 bees and many of them and others come to collect this honey. It was really cool to walk into the swarms of bees without any gear and not be noticed at all.
