CaxyNews is the online site connected to Lake Forest Academy‘s student newspaper The Spectator. The print paper has been in existence for over 100 years. CaxyNews was founded in the 2014-2015 school year.

The online edition features versions of print stories as well as online exclusives on Caxy events and interests. The Spectator staff is driven to engage a wider audience and take its interaction with its readers to a new level with CaxyNews. The student journalists have also created multiple social media accounts (such as Twitter and Instagram) to strengthen CaxyNews‘ online presence.

The name “Caxy” was inspired by Lake Forest Academy’s mascot, a frog named “Caxy” after the latin word for the audible sound a frog produces. Lake Forest Academy students refer to themselves as “Caxys” as well.
